Comfort Kills: Embracing Challenges and Stepping Outside the Comfort Zone for Happiness
I’ve been challenging myself lately, keeping in mind this quote by T. Harv Eker:
“Comfort kills! If your goal in life is to be comfortable, happiness will not be there. Happiness doesn’t come from living a lukewarm life, always wondering what could have been. Happiness comes as a result of being in our natural state of growth and living up to our fullest potential.”
That said, I’m not here to read quotes, but as this email goes publish, I am in Saudi Arabia, and I have been over here for the past few days, running a big play-filled, FunShop with 150 international educators. I’ve recorded a podcast about this, as I was extremely nervous about going overseas! I used to do this often, but COVID reduced that, and then I did a lot online. Recently, most of the work I’ve been doing is around Australia.
I’ve done face-to-face workshops in over 20 countries and a lot in the Middle East, but never in Saudi Arabia (the reason why I was nervous about the 20-hour flight and being in a country I’d never experienced before.) Now, I feel accomplished doing something outside my comfort zone and worth the fears and anxiety I experienced. And I’m telling you, it’s the best thing ever! Only with that quote above was it the opposite of lukewarm for me. The water was really hot— a 20-hour flight into a different country.
